WHAT IS ST. CHRISTOPHER’S?

We are passionate about providing students with an environment that fosters confidence, learning, fun and personal success. With out inhouse expertise students will be encouraged to find the best ways to learn and develop their skills and understanding. Our dream is to have students who leave St. Christopher’s as fully rounded individuals confident in their own ability and strengths.

We are not a special needs school. What makes us unique is the attention given to individuals in an environment where they are able to be themselves and gain confidence in their own skills and abilities as well as face their struggles with support and encouragement. we do not restrict a student’s learning through low expectations but rather encourage growth, development and risk taking through the delivery of high quality targeted teaching and learning. We beleive in success in all forms.

Emphasis is placed, where necessary, on skills-based and vocational subjects

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A PLACE?

Any child who benefits from our unique environment. However, we are committed to catering for children who are in the ‘average’ or ‘above average’ age ability range who either have mild to moderate learning difficulty, such as Dyslexia, ADD or ADHD, or have previously found mainstream to be accesible but unsupportive.

All applicants must be supported by copies of recent school reports and an up-to-date Educational Psychologist’s assessment so eligibility can be accurately determined.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pupils from Form 1 to Upper 6 are taught in classes of no more than 12 children. The Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A level syllabuses are followed in all subjects with much greater attention given to detail and individual differences, needs and abilities. Our multi-media approach is enhanced by the use of IT in the classroom using laptops, Smart Boards and internet. Staff are kept up-to-date on the latest and most innovative teaching techniques via our policy of Continual Professional Development (CPD).

APPLYING:

An application form can be collected form Reception or one can be emailed to you.

When you return it, please attach the following:

  • Copy of current school report
  • Certified copy of birth certificate
  • Passport size photo
  • Copy of current assessment
  • Registration fee

Your child’s name will then be placed on our waiting list. Acceptance will depend on the following factors: –

  • Eligibility
  • Availability of places
  • Entrance exam (F1)
  • Interview
  • All other selection criteria met.

If a place is offered you will be required to pay an acceptance fee.
